Dogs Rescued
Following a tip off from a neighbour to our housing team, five mistreated dogs were recently seized from a property on Fords Park Road by Newham Council’s Animal Welfare Team in an excellent show of compassion and professionalism by neighbours and staff involved.
Our team visited the property supported by colleagues from Newham Council, who noted that the Staffordshire Bull Terriers had clearly been suffering for some time. The dogs were taken to a local vets, where the vet who examined the poor pooches said it was the worst case she had ever seen in terms of cruelty and neglect. All five had significant health problems including hair loss, flea infestations and injuries caused by fights with other dogs.
The residents pled guilty to animal neglect at Thames Magistrates Court and will need to wear an ankle tag and carry out 150 hours of unpaid community service. The dogs have been rehomed.
Due to the nature of the case, the staff members involved will go unnamed in this piece, but we wanted to highlight the excellent work and the benefits of raising any similar concerns to our housing team; it can and does bring results like these.
