Fire Safety Advice for Blocks: Stay Put!
In the event of a fire, residents who live in a block, rather than a house or other street property, are reminded of the fire action plan for your property: stay put!
If you see a fire, call 999, request the fire brigade and give the operator your address. As long as the fire isn’t inside your property, keep your front door shut and await fire brigade directions or assistance. This is known as ‘Stay Put’ and is your safest course of action in the event of a fire.
If you’re not inside your home when a fire breaks out, do not return to your flat to gather personal objects or pets. If you need any further clarity please do not hesitate to get in contact with the housing office on 0203 701 3658.
Please note, this advice only applies to blocks, not street properties.
